Position Summary & Location

The Senior Test Engineer leads the development and documentation of test plans to validate hardware, firmware, and software designs and implementations by the development teams in collaboration with design engineers, architects, and development managers. They create test environments and execute test plans, which may include electrical validation testing, feature evaluation, system integration testing, and interoperability testing, then document the test results and any related analysis and findings. The Senior Test Engineer helps create, modify, and manage test automation scripts. They also help analyze, recreate, and debug complex customer field issues.0

This position works on site full-time from Acuity in Decatur, GA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute validation test plans to assess hardware, firmware, and software functionality, performance, compatibility, and reliability through White-box and Gray-box testing, including verification of interoperability within overall solution.

  • Collaborate with design engineers to create custom test setups using a combination of products, off-the-shelf test equipment, and custom equipment.

  • Contribute to the automation of validation processes to improve efficiency and repeatability; modify and manage automation scripts developed in Python and LabView.

  • Create detailed test plans from technical product and/or feature requirements, in collaboration with design engineers and product managers.

  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in a clear and concise manner.

  • Analyze test results and work collaboratively with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to debug embedded designs and identify root causes of failures to resolve issues.

  • Assist in the recreation and troubleshooting of customer site issues.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or a related field) is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware validation and software/firmware QA is preferred.

  • Proficiency with standard test equipment: oscilloscopes, DMM, data logger, spectrum analyzer is required.

  • Experience with basic hardware tools and hands-on setup of equipment, including low voltage a line voltage wiring.

  • Experience using command-line and engineering-created tools (e.g. software test tools, automated test scripts, network data loggers).

  • Experience creating test plans from technical product and feature specifications varying in detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to peers and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Proficiency with more specialized test equipment: network analyzer, power analyzer, EMI, surge, EFT, thermal chambers, etc. desired.

  • Prefer experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Labview, C, Javascript).

  • Prefer experience with Selenium, Appium, Postman/Newman (or other API test tools), test framework development, and web application testing.

  • Experience with MS Office suite.

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment, with the ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities and objectives simultaneously.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
